Part-Time Academic – Social Work Field Work Class (Winter/Summer 2027)

About the role

Dalhousie University is seeking a part‑time academic to teach the Social Work Field Work Class (SLWK 5005/5006) during the Winter and Summer terms of 2027. The position involves delivering on‑campus seminars and supporting students through their supervised field placements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead weekly seminars (Mondays 17:35‑19:25) and prepare course materials.
• Coordinate with student field placement agencies, schedule meetings, and resolve placement issues.
• Oversee the completion of student academic presentations and assign final grades.
• Provide guidance on integrating classroom learning with field practice.
• Engage in pre‑course preparation and ongoing course administration.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in social work or related fields.
• Master of Social Work (MSW) degree or higher; higher qualifications are a plus.
• Previous teaching experience at the post‑secondary level preferred.
• Strong knowledge of social work practice and ability to convey concepts to students.
