Part‑time Pharmacist for Prison Healthcare

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Pharmacist who can prescribe to join the Primary Care team at HMP Stafford. This part‑time position works 22.5 hours per week across three days, providing essential pharmacy services to a male prison population of 741.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical advice on medicines and poly‑pharmacy, ensuring safe and modern medicines management.
• Deliver an integrated, legal, and high‑quality prison pharmacy service aligned with the healthcare needs of inmates.
• Lead and support pharmacy technicians and the wider healthcare team, fostering a positive working environment.
• Promote best practice in prescribing decisions and improve medicines optimisation across the prison.
• Share up‑to‑date information on pharmaceutical products, legislation, and health education with staff and patients.

Required profile

• Registered pharmacist with prescribing rights.
• Experience in clinical pharmacy and medicines optimisation.
• Ability to work in a secure, prison environment and undergo additional vetting and security checks.
• Legal right to work in the UK.
