Passenger Assistant – Part-time (15 hrs/week)

About the role

Join London Hire Community Services as a Passenger Assistant, providing safe and supportive transport for school‑age children and adults who cannot use public transport. Working on a split‑shift basis, you will help passengers board, travel, and alight from the bus while ensuring their wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the driver to maintain passenger safety and comfort.
• Help passengers, including those with disabilities, to embark and disembark safely.
• Monitor passenger welfare during transit and report any incidents.
• Operate passenger lifts or other boarding equipment as required.
• Secure wheelchairs using appropriate restraints and safety belts.
• Communicate clearly and patiently with passengers and clients.
• Ensure the vehicle is secure and communication equipment is used correctly.

Required profile

• Good understanding of various disabilities.
• Patient, level‑headed attitude with the ability to work independently.
• Team‑oriented mindset and strong verbal and written communication.
• Attention to detail for accurate record‑keeping.

Required skills

• Ability to operate passenger lifts and secure wheelchair restraints.
