Payments Manager

About the role

ASDA is looking for a Payments Manager to lead the optimisation of internal payment methods, processes and customer journeys across its e‑commerce platform. Working closely with Digital, Retail, Finance, Fraud, Technology and Customer teams, you will use data‑driven insights to improve payment performance, operational efficiency and the overall customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end payment performance for e‑commerce, ensuring reliable and customer‑focused experiences.
• Analyse payment data and KPIs to boost authorisation and acceptance rates, reduce costs and identify optimisation opportunities.
• Investigate payment failures, drop‑offs and operational inefficiencies, delivering root‑cause solutions and preventative actions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver payment journey enhancements aligned with business objectives.
• Build strong relationships with Digital, Retail, Finance, Fraud, Technology, Compliance, Customer Service and CX teams to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.
• Lead strategic payment initiatives, influence decisions with data‑driven recommendations and develop governance business cases.
• Establish and monitor payment performance metrics, create dashboards and report trends to senior leadership.

Required profile

• 5+ years of proven experience in payments, digital optimisation, operational analysis or a similar role within retail, financial services or e‑commerce.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to turn data into actionable insights.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
