Pharmacy Assistant (Bank) – Flexible Shifts

About the role

We are looking for a Pharmacy Assistant to work on a bank (as‑and‑when‑required) basis at The Ridgeway Hospital in Swindon. You will support the pharmacy team by preparing and dispensing medicines, handling stock and responding to routine enquiries.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and labelling of inpatient, outpatient and discharge prescriptions under supervision.
• Pick, pack and distribute medicines to wards and clinical areas safely and accurately.
• Monitor stock levels and expiry dates, helping maintain accurate inventory.
• Enter prescription data and complete relevant records on pharmacy systems.
• Respond to basic enquiries from patients, nursing staff and colleagues in a professional manner.
• Follow health‑and‑safety, infection‑prevention and medicines‑management protocols.

Required profile

• Good general education with literacy and numeracy skills.
• Experience in customer service, healthcare or stock‑handling roles.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safe working practices.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under supervision.
