Planning Lawyer (1-5 PQE) – Hybrid, Cambridge

About the role

A leading UK law firm with a strong regional presence is seeking a Planning Lawyer (1‑5 PQE) to join its commercial team in Cambridge. The role offers hybrid working and the chance to advise developers, landowners, businesses and public‑sector clients on a wide range of planning and environmental matters.

Key responsibilities

• Advise clients on planning applications, appeals, enforcement proceedings and judicial review claims.
• Draft, review and negotiate Section 106 Agreements and related documentation.
• Conduct detailed legal research and prepare reports, briefing notes and client advice.
• Support senior lawyers on complex planning and environmental projects.
• Liaise with local authorities, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Monitor changes in planning legislation, policy and case law.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with 1‑5 years PQE in a recognised planning or environmental law team.
• Strong technical knowledge of planning law and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent drafting, analytical and communication abilities.
• Commercial awareness and ability to provide pragmatic, business‑focused advice.
• Proactive, collaborative approach and confidence in building client relationships.
