Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Sustainability Accounting

About the role

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Horizon Europe JUST‑CIRCLE project at Brunel University’s Business School. The role focuses on sustainability accounting, accountability and the validation of circular business models within an interdisciplinary, international consortium.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and test FAIR‑aligned evidence practices, data‑quality and traceability protocols.
• Design governance frameworks and validation toolkits for circular business models.
• Integrate evidence across work‑packages and produce high‑quality research outputs.
• Prepare technical reports, policy‑oriented briefs and project deliverables.
• Collaborate with academic and non‑academic partners across Europe.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., economics, finance, accounting, sustainability).
• Strong independent research track record with peer‑reviewed publications.
• Excellent analytical and written communication skills.
• Experience handling complex documentary, qualitative or structured evidence.
• Prior involvement in sustainability accounting, governance, traceability or funded collaborative projects is highly valued.
