Primary Teacher – Special Education

About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Primary Teacher to join our Independent Special School, part of Catch22’s alternative education provision. You will work with children who have emotional and behavioural difficulties, delivering tailored lessons in small groups and supporting their personal and academic growth.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the curriculum and inspection requirements.
- Create and update schemes of work, learning resources and individual education plans (IEPs).
- Monitor, assess and record student progress, producing regular reports for families and commissioners.
- Maintain a safe, inspirational learning environment and manage classroom behaviour.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, families, carers and external agencies to address barriers to learning.
Required profile
- Experience working with primary‑aged learners who have emotional or behavioural challenges.
- Ability to work flexibly, with patience, resilience and creativity.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a professional approach to multi‑agency collaboration.
Required skills
- Lesson planning and curriculum design.
- Assessment and progress tracking.
- Behaviour management strategies.
- Developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
