Private Client Solicitor/Associate

About the role

We are seeking a Private Client Solicitor or Associate to join a modern, agile firm in Colchester. The position is suitable for recently qualified to mid‑level lawyers with solid experience in private client work, covering wills, trusts, probate and estate administration.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive legal advice on wills, trusts, probate and the administration of estates.
• Draft and review legal documents, including trusts, powers of attorney and probate applications.
• Manage client relationships and act as a trusted point of contact for private client matters.
• Liaise with trustees, executors and other professionals to ensure smooth estate administration.
• Stay up‑to‑date with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Support senior partners in business development and client acquisition activities.

Required profile

• Recently qualified to mid‑level with a strong grounding in private client law.
• Demonstrable experience handling wills, trusts, probate and estate administration.
• STEP membership or actively working towards qualification.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑moving, client‑focused environment.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of UK private client legislation.
• Proficiency in drafting wills, trusts and probate documents.
• Understanding of tax implications for estates and trusts.
• STEP qualification (or progress towards it).
