Production Planner – Precision Engineering

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Production Planner & Systems Support professional to join our precision engineering team in Portsmouth. The role ensures manufacturing operations run smoothly, on time and in‑full, while also maintaining and enhancing our ERP/MRP systems.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor sales orders, identify constraints and manage risks.
• Develop and maintain the machine‑shop production plan, including recovery actions.
• Expedite material and capacity shortages to meet OTDIF targets.
• Issue work orders and work‑to‑lists, setting throughput targets.
• Track production output against delivery and efficiency goals.
• Escalate risks and exceptions for timely decision‑making.
• Maintain ERP data, routings and planning parameters.
• Support implementation and optimisation of ERP and scheduling systems.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement projects and visual‑management initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum three years’ experience with MRP/ERP and MPS in a production, logistics or PPC environment.
• NVQ Level 3 or higher, preferably in a precision component manufacturing setting.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Capacity analysis and bottleneck identification.

What we offer

• Salary £45,000‑£50,000 dependent on experience.
• Full‑time, on‑site role with Monday‑Thursday 08:00‑17:00 and Friday 08:00‑13:00.
