Project Cost Controller

About the role

Our client is seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Project Cost Controller to join their growing Project Delivery team in Surbiton. The role involves maintaining financial oversight across multiple projects, monitoring performance and ensuring robust project controls. You will work closely with Project Managers, Finance and Service Delivery to produce accurate reporting and support successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain project cost forecasts, tracking actual expenditure against forecast budgets.
• Maintain project turnover forecasts and assist with the preparation of customer invoices.
• Monitor invoice payments, highlighting overdue payments and supporting Project Managers with resolution.
• Track project profitability, identifying projects that are not achieving expected financial performance.
• Proactively manage project variations, ensuring all variation orders are recorded and processed within customer timescales.
• Manage the monthly engineer timesheet process.
• Maintain project correspondence logs and project documentation.
• Assist in the preparation of project reports, project board papers and management information.
• Ensure all project control activities comply with company procedures and Head Office requirements.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a Project Controller, Project Coordinator, Project Administrator or similar project support role.
• Strong financial and commercial awareness with experience monitoring project costs and forecasts.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
