Project Manager – Construction Projects

About the role

Carey Group is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a high‑profile construction programme in West Cumbria. You will be responsible for delivering projects to the highest quality, safety and commercial standards while building strong relationships with clients and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead quality management and ensure compliance with Carey Quality Standards and QA/QC procedures.
• Oversee safety and environmental targets, conduct daily team briefings and manage lifting plans, RAMS, permits and inspections.
• Ensure technical design, manufacture and installation meet project specifications.
• Plan and control logistics, including deliveries, lifting and handling activities.
• Manage structural design delivery, design changes and timely information release.
• Supervise materials procurement, approval and QA/QC processes.
• Monitor project programmes, milestones, deadlines and KPIs.
• Work with the Contracts Manager on budgets, cost monitoring and performance reporting.
• Lead, mentor and develop the project team, conducting performance reviews.
• Maintain clear communication with clients and stakeholders to meet quality and specification requirements.

Required profile

• Higher‑level qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Structural Engineering.
• Proven project management experience within hard landscaping, groundworks or infrastructure contracting.
• Methodical, proactive planner with strong commercial and contractual awareness.
• Ability to programme and schedule complex projects.

Required skills

• Strong experience with reinforced concrete (RC) structures.
• Competence in quality, safety and environmental management.
• Knowledge of logistics, procurement and material control processes.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage stakeholder expectations.
