Project Planner – Defence Infrastructure

About the role

Assystem is seeking a self‑motivated Project Planner to join its Defence Infrastructure team in the UK. Working from either Derby or Newcastle, you will support the delivery of complex, high‑security infrastructure projects by managing schedules and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Produce, maintain and update project schedules using Primavera P6.
• Coordinate work packages, track progress against the schedule and manage resource planning.
• Review and approve sub‑contractor programmes and ensure their accuracy.
• Interface with stakeholders to report progress, changes, risks and opportunities.
• Provide man‑hour estimates and planning input for proposals.
• Generate concise reports, including critical‑path analysis, for the Defence Infrastructure Lead Team.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent qualification (preferred).
• Primavera P6 training and intermediate proficiency.
• Strong MS Office skills, especially Excel and Microsoft Project.
• Self‑motivated, able to meet deadlines without supervision.
• Clear communicator with attention to detail.
• Experience as a project planner on NEC4 contracts is essential.
• Project Management qualification (e.g., APM) is a plus.
