Project Quality Advisor

About the role

The Project Quality Advisor will support Balfour Beatty’s Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) programme in Peterhead, ensuring that all civil engineering and construction activities meet internal, contractual and external quality standards. Working closely with construction and delivery teams, the advisor will champion a “right first time” approach and drive continuous improvement across the project.

Key responsibilities

• Support delivery of project and business‑unit Quality Action Plans.
• Develop and maintain quality management documentation, including Contract Quality Plans and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
• Drive QA/QC compliance across civil engineering and construction works.
• Plan, conduct and report internal and supplier audits, and manage audit close‑out.
• Assist with external certification and compliance, including ISO 9001.
• Challenge existing processes and promote continual improvement.
• Provide practical quality coaching and advice to site and project teams.
• Support root‑cause analysis and capture Cost of Poor Quality data.
• Contribute quality input to tenders and bid submissions where required.
• Produce quality reports and management information for senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Control within construction, energy, infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
• Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems and ability to work collaboratively with engineering and construction teams.
• Confident communicator with stakeholder‑management skills.
• Competent user of Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to obtain or already hold CQI Practitioner status.
