Quality Engineer

About the role

The Quality Engineer at Howden in Renfrew will ensure that all compressors, blowers, fans and related equipment meet the highest quality standards. Working on projects up to £15 million, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams and international customers to maintain and improve the company’s quality assurance framework.

Key responsibilities

• Write, monitor and update quality procedures to comply with national and international standards.
• Conduct quality audits against ISO 9001 and other specified criteria.
• Develop and adapt project‑specific quality plans and dossiers for Howden UK products.
• Review, approve and file quality control documentation, ensuring proper record‑keeping.
• Liaise with customers on‑site or off‑site to support sales and project managers.
• Monitor and analyse non‑conformance and corrective‑action data, identifying opportunities for lean improvements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives using lean methodologies.

Required profile

• Engineering qualification or equivalent experience in a QA/QC role within manufacturing or engineering.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, quality plans and lean tools.
• Strong problem‑solving attitude and effective communication with global stakeholders.
• Hands‑on mindset and ability to interpret complex specifications and technical drawings.
