About the role
The Quality Improvement and Regulation Manager will support the Lead Quality Improvement and Regulation Managers, the Director of Nursing and the Deputy Director of Regulation and Quality Improvement in delivering regulatory compliance and continuous quality improvement across Barchester Healthcare services in the Durham and Newcastle areas. This home‑based role requires regular travel to service sites and occasional overnight stays.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver the annual Quality Improvement Review (QIR) and support visit schedule to ensure services meet regulatory standards and internal policies.
- Monitor and analyse data to inform risk‑based responses and drive improvement.
- Provide day‑to‑day central support, advice and guidance on regulatory and quality improvement matters.
- Write reports, action plans and constructive feedback to promote continuous improvement.
- Attend regional meetings to share updates, common themes and best practices.
- Work on a rota for the Regulation Duty Desk, ensuring timely responses to external stakeholders.
- Participate in key quality improvement projects and refresh relevant policies and guidance.
- Visit a portfolio of services (approximately three per fortnight) to conduct audits and support visits.
Required profile
- Proven experience in health and social care regulation, quality improvement, or a registered manager role.
- Strong understanding of current health and social care regulatory frameworks and quality improvement strategies.
- Excellent analytical ability to review evidence against required standards.
- Full UK driving licence, access to a car and willingness to travel regularly, including occasional overnight stays.
- Positive, solution‑focused attitude with good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience of coaching, mentoring and providing constructive feedback.
