About the role
The Raw Material Operator works on the production floor of IKO Glass Fiber in Chester, SC, ensuring that raw materials are received, inspected, stored, and fed into the furnace and binder systems safely and efficiently. This position is essential for maintaining continuous production flow and product quality.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain perfect attendance and punctuality for all scheduled shifts.
- Follow all safety policies, take primary responsibility for personal safety, and promote a safe work environment.
- Manage batch inventory, quality checks, and supply to the furnace.
- Unload, inspect, document, and store batch and binder raw materials in designated silos or areas.
- Perform daily cleaning of batch house and binder areas and keep workspaces tidy.
- Report any downtime, batch loss, or scrap incidents immediately to the Furnace Engineer, Quality Manager, or Process Engineer.
- Conduct inbound inspections, sampling, and inventory counts for both batch and binder materials.
- Troubleshoot batch, binder, and sizing system issues and assist engineers as needed.
- Execute quality checks for solids, loss on ignition (LOI), and moisture content.
- Carry out any additional duties assigned by supervisors.
Required profile
- Strong commitment to safety and ability to follow established procedures.
- Excellent attendance record and reliability.
- Willingness to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience in glass or related material handling is beneficial.
