Refuse Loader – Southampton (Full‑time, Temporary)

About the role

Berry Recruitment is seeking motivated Refuse Loaders to join a dedicated team operating in and around Southampton. You will work on a refuse lorry, handling a variety of waste streams while supporting the driver and ensuring safety standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Collect paper, green waste, household waste and special collections from customers.
• Load waste onto the lorry safely and efficiently, clearing any spillages immediately.
• Assist the driver as a reversing assistant to ensure safe manoeuvring.
• Follow legal requirements, health and safety rules, and company procedures.
• Maintain a polite and respectful attitude with colleagues and the public.

Required profile

• Ability to work as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication and time‑keeping skills.
• Commitment to health and safety guidelines.
• Physical fitness for fast‑paced, manual work.

Required skills

• Competently operate machinery.
