About the role
Berry Recruitment is seeking experienced chefs and cooks for relief positions across Chester. These temporary roles cover staff absences in schools, academies, staff canteens, healthcare settings and care homes, offering a mix of day, evening and occasional weekend shifts.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to established menus and dietary requirements.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety in all work environments.
- Adapt quickly to different kitchen settings, from school cafeterias to care‑home facilities.
- Cover short‑term and long‑term staff gaps, ensuring uninterrupted service.
Required profile
- Proven experience as a chef or cook.
- Passion for food and quality service.
- Valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) for work with vulnerable groups.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Own transport is advantageous, though most sites are reachable by public transport.
