Retail Assistant Manager - Cruise Ship

About the role

Harding, a leader in onboard cruise retail working with cruise line and brand partners, is looking for an outgoing retail assistant manager with a proven retail sales and management background. You will lead a team of retail sales associates and product specialists while delivering excellent customer service, sales and profit targets. The role is a contract position, working and living at sea for up to 6 months at a time, with a 1-2 month break at home between contracts.

Key responsibilities

• Create an exceptional and memorable retail experience for guests on board.
• Lead and inspire the team to provide excellent customer service while meeting sales and profit targets.
• Act as a role model and help identify training needs within the team.
• Own the client base, including outreach for private sales, in-store events and product knowledge.
• Deliver high standards on the shop floor and in back office operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Assistant Retail Manager or Team Leader, ideally with experience at sea.
• Motivated to lead a team to achieve and exceed sales targets.
• Excellent face-to-face customer service and sales ability, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability in public speaking and showcasing luxury items.
• Adaptable to change and able to work in a high-pressure environment; a strong team player who is commercially driven and goal oriented.

Required skills

• Competence in store and HR processes, including sales reports, loss prevention, audits and appraisals.
• Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
