Scanning Nurse/Midwife – Ultrasound & Abortion Care (Midlands)

About the role

We are seeking a registered nurse or midwife with 1st and 2nd trimester ultrasound qualifications to join our multidisciplinary team in the Midlands. The role is part‑time (19 hours per week) across two days, with occasional weekend shifts on a rotational basis, on a 12‑24 month fixed‑term contract.

Key responsibilities

• Provide ultrasound scanning for early pregnancy assessments.
• Support medical and surgical abortion services, contraception, and sexual health clinics.
• Deliver care in remote services, early medical abortion clinics, and surgical units.
• Ensure compliance with the Abortion Act 1967, Department of Health RSOPs, and CQC regulations.
• Maintain clinical safety standards and participate in patient safety learning frameworks.

Required profile

• Registered nurse or midwife, qualified in 1st and 2nd trimester ultrasound scanning.
• Pro‑choice stance and commitment to confidential reproductive care.
• Motivated, caring, empathetic and able to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to work the specified part‑time schedule, including occasional weekends.
• Understanding of clinical safety, safeguarding and DBS requirements.

Required skills

• Ultrasound scanning (1st & 2nd trimester).
• Family planning and sexual health care.
• Knowledge of abortion care guidelines and CQC standards.
• Proficiency with NUPAS clinical systems.
