School Site Manager

About the role

The School Site Manager will oversee daily operations and maintenance of a school site in South Croydon, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for students and staff. This permanent position requires strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to facilities management within a not‑for‑profit educational setting.

Key responsibilities

• Act as main key holder, opening and closing the premises, managing alarms and responding to security call‑outs, and monitoring CCTV.
• Carry out minor repairs, monitor the condition of buildings, furniture, fixtures and equipment, and arrange specialist contractors for repairs.
• Oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities.
• Conduct routine health and safety inspections, monitor fire safety equipment, emergency lighting, alarms, ladders and Legionella control, and ensure compliance with H&S and COSHH regulations.
• Maintain external areas such as playgrounds, pathways, car parks and drainage systems, and manage gritting and snow clearance.
• Monitor cleanliness standards, supervise cleaning staff where applicable, and manage cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Escort and supervise contractors, monitor quality of work, obtain quotations and coordinate repair works.
• Support school events by arranging rooms and furniture, manage deliveries and stock of maintenance and cleaning supplies, and record utility usage and meter readings.

Required profile

• Practical maintenance and DIY skills.
• Good understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Ability to work independently and prioritise workloads.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and excellent organisational skills.
• Good communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Experience supervising contractors or site staff.
• Full manual driving licence.
