SEN Teaching Assistant – Reception Class (Burnley)

About the role

We are seeking a caring and patient SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with additional needs in a Reception class at a welcoming primary school in Burnley. This full‑time, long‑term position offers the chance to make a real difference in early years education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs.
• Assist with learning activities, interventions and tailored support plans.
• Promote emotional wellbeing, confidence and social skills.
• Help create an inclusive, engaging classroom environment.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement strategies and individual learning plans.
• Encourage positive behaviour and support children to reach their full potential.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children with SEN in schools, nurseries or similar settings.
• Experience with autism, speech and language needs, ADHD or other additional needs is advantageous.
• Calm, patient and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Genuine passion for supporting young children.
