SEND Outreach Tutor – In‑person (Gateshead & Newcastle)

About the role

We are seeking experienced SEND Outreach Tutors to provide one‑to‑one, in‑person tuition for learners in Gateshead and Newcastle. The role supports children and young people who are out of education or need additional help due to SEND, SEMH needs or an EHCP. Sessions take place in the learner’s home or a suitable community venue.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver tailored 1:1 tuition that meets each learner’s individual needs.
• Adapt teaching methods to support learners with SEND, SEMH and other additional needs.
• Plan engaging lessons that promote academic progress and build confidence.
• Monitor progress and maintain accurate session records.
• Work professionally with families, schools and local authority teams.

Required profile

• Experience teaching or tutoring learners with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• Enhanced DBS registration on the Update Service (essential).
• Strong behaviour management and ability to build positive relationships.
• QTS desirable but not essential for candidates with relevant experience.
• Ability to travel across Gateshead and Newcastle for in‑person tuition.
