SEND Teaching Assistant – South Gloucestershire

About the role

Connex Education is seeking enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils with special educational needs across a range of academies and maintained schools in South Gloucestershire. You will work with children from EYFS to post‑16, helping them achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEND.
• Assist teaching and learning across primary and secondary age groups.
• Implement EHCP targets and personalised learning strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals.
• Create a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment.
• Support academic, social, emotional and behavioural development.
• Apply effective behaviour management and de‑escalation techniques.
• Adapt to varied classroom and school settings.

Required profile

• Experience working with children with SEND or transferable experience in related sectors.
• Patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Passion for helping children overcome learning barriers.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Relevant qualifications or SEND training are desirable but not essential.
