Senior Accounts Payable Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join our growing finance team in North Bristol. You will own the end‑to‑end purchase ledger process, handling high volumes of invoices while supporting month‑end activities and driving efficiency across the function.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full accounts payable cycle, from invoice receipt to payment execution.
• Process large volumes of supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
• Prepare and run weekly and monthly payment batches.
• Reconcile supplier statements, resolve queries, and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Support month‑end closing, including reconciliations and reporting.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.
• Mentor junior finance team members and assist with audits and ad‑hoc projects.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a senior accounts payable or purchase ledger role.
• Strong understanding of the end‑to‑end AP process.
• Experience working with ERP or accounting systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Confident communicator able to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
