About the role

Barclays is looking for a Senior Android Engineer to design and deliver advanced authentication and identity features for its mobile banking app. You will work on secure, friction‑less experiences for millions of customers, using the latest Android technologies and AI‑assisted development tools.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop native Android authentication components, including biometric login, Android Keystore integration, and SafetyNet checks.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers, security specialists, and UX designers to define requirements and ensure seamless integration with IAM services.
  • Maintain high code quality through code reviews, unit testing, and automated UI tests (JUnit, Espresso, MockK).
  • Implement secure coding practices such as ProGuard/R8 optimisation, certificate pinning, and root detection.

Required profile

  • Deep experience in Android development with Kotlin and Java, and strong knowledge of Jetpack libraries and modern architecture components.
  • Solid understanding of Identity and Access Management concepts, OAuth2/OIDC protocols, and integration with IAM back‑ends.
  • Proficiency with AI‑assisted development tools to improve productivity and debugging efficiency.
  • Experience working in a regulated financial services environment and familiarity with PCI compliance.
