Senior Backend Developer – Hybrid (London)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join a fast‑growing, well‑funded technology business in London. The role is hybrid, with one day per month in the office, and focuses on building reliable, well‑designed backend systems that have a direct impact on our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services using Python or a comparable modern language.
• Own features end‑to‑end, from conception through production, ensuring clean code and thoughtful design.
• Contribute to technical direction and make architectural decisions as the platform evolves.
• Collaborate closely with product, design and other engineering teams to deliver mission‑critical, customer‑facing systems.
• Debug, refactor and improve existing services, applying solid software‑engineering fundamentals.

Required profile

• Strong experience building backend services with Python (or similar).
• Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms and object‑oriented design.
• Proven ability to design and operate scalable APIs, databases and distributed systems.
• Product‑mindset with a focus on real user impact.
• Comfortable working in fast‑paced environments with evolving requirements.
• Excellent collaborative communication skills.
