Senior Civil Engineer

About the role

BWB's Property Division is recruiting a Senior Civil Engineer to lead civil engineering projects and take ownership of preliminary and detailed designs for levels, drainage and external works across adoptable and private developments. The role sits within a multidisciplinary team delivering engineering consultancy to a diverse client base, from early design concepts through to commissioning, and includes mentoring engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead civil engineering design, taking ownership of preliminary and detailed designs for levels, drainage and external works.
• Coordinate the delivery of multiple projects, manage priorities and lead small teams with delegated responsibility from the Team Leader or Principal Engineer.
• Work closely with clients, understand their needs and help showcase BWB's capabilities to new contacts.
• Mentor Graduates and Engineers, providing constructive guidance and sharing technical knowledge.
• Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to resolve design challenges and deliver coordinated solutions.

Required profile

• Proven civil engineering design experience, particularly in levels, drainage and external works.
• Experience delivering complex projects from planning through to completion, including liaison with planning authorities, statutory undertakers and bodies such as the Environment Agency.
• Understanding of how civil engineering interfaces with other disciplines and interest in project coordination.
• Commercial awareness, client relationship building, and clear written and verbal communication.
• Ability to delegate effectively and work in a collaborative team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroDrainage and Microsoft Office.
• Civil 3D or PDS experience, with a willingness to train in Civil 3D.
