Senior Costs Lawyer / Draftsperson – Hybrid (Yorkshire)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Costs Lawyer or Draftsperson to join our in‑house legal team that handles publicly funded family law matters. The role involves managing complex legal‑aid costs and contributing to the evolution of our billing processes, with flexible hybrid working across several Yorkshire locations.

Key responsibilities

• Draft high‑value legal‑aid bills and ensure accurate preparation of costs.
• Manage costs matters from instruction through to submission, complying with Legal Aid Agency requirements.
• Prepare and submit claims in line with LAA guidelines.
• Support development and improvement of electronic billing and data‑management systems.
• Contribute to reporting, quality assurance and compliance activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high standards across the costs function.

Required profile

• Significant experience in legal‑aid costs drafting or costs law.
• Thorough understanding of Legal Aid billing regulations.
• Strong working knowledge of the Client and Cost Management System (CCMS).
• Excellent IT proficiency and meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Proactive, collaborative approach with a commitment to high‑quality work.
