Senior Finance Manager – Portfolio Business

About the role

This is a hands‑on finance leadership position within a high‑growth, privately backed investment group. You will own the finance function for a portfolio of founder‑led businesses and sit on the Leadership Team from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end close, management accounts and Board pack preparation across multiple entities.
• Manage cash‑flow, payroll coordination, credit control and supplier payments.
• Oversee external accountants for VAT, statutory accounts and corporation tax.
• Supervise a Finance Executive and gradually bring outsourced work in‑house.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, commercial analysis and provide financial visibility to stakeholders.
• Gain exposure to M&A due diligence, transaction work and exit preparation as the portfolio expands.

Required profile

• Qualified or part‑qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Strong experience in management accounts, month‑end close and financial reporting.
• Ability to work hands‑on across several entities simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills with founders and senior directors.

• Xero accounting software.
