Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor – Forensic Science Programme Leader

About the role

The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of Surrey seeks a full‑time Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor to lead and develop its Forensic Science programme. This senior academic position offers the chance to shape undergraduate teaching, drive curriculum innovation, and expand research activities in forensic science.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and launch of a new undergraduate Forensic Science programme.
• Deliver lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions and supervise student projects.
• Assess student work, provide marking and pastoral support.
• Develop industrial training opportunities and strengthen links with external partners.
• Contribute to the recruitment of additional academic staff and the development of future crime‑scene facilities.
• Establish and grow an independent research programme using the university’s forensic and analytical chemistry facilities.

Required profile

• PhD in forensic science or a closely related discipline (or a BSc with equivalent professional experience).
• Proven experience in programme leadership or curriculum development.
• Strong record of high‑quality teaching at the university level.
• Demonstrated ability to secure research funding and build an independent research agenda.
