Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Data Centres

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design of complex data‑centre projects across the UK. You will own the delivery from concept through construction, working closely with senior directors and multidisciplinary teams to ensure world‑class performance, resilience and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for hyperscale and mission‑critical data‑centre facilities.
• Produce and review detailed calculations, reports and specifications for HVAC, chilled‑water, condenser‑water and ventilation systems.
• Develop and coordinate 3‑D models using Revit and BIM Level 2 workflows.
• Mentor and review work of junior engineers, supporting their technical growth.
• Present engineering solutions to clients and attend client meetings.
• Collaborate with electrical, public health, structural and civil engineers.
• Support project managers to deliver on time and within budget.
• Ensure designs comply with British Standards and Building Regulations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical design for data‑centre or mission‑critical projects.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, chilled‑water, condenser‑water and ventilation principles.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff.
• Excellent communication skills and client‑facing confidence.
