Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

A leading building services consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its design team. You will work on medium to large‑scale projects across commercial, industrial, retail, residential and education sectors, delivering robust mechanical services solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of mechanical services, including HVAC, water, steam, compressed air, foul drainage and building management systems.
• Manage project delivery from concept through to final design, coordinating with clients, architects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Conduct site surveys, inspections and on‑site monitoring to ensure design intent is met.
• Prepare technical specifications, reports and detailed drawings.
• Oversee risk management, peer‑review design outputs and mentor junior staff.
• Handle commercial aspects of projects, including budgeting, cost control and client relationship management.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of post‑graduate, hands‑on design experience in building services consultancy.
• Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with CIBSE or IMechE membership.
• Degree or Masters in Mechanical/Building Services Engineering.
• Proven experience across commercial, industrial, retail, residential and education projects.
