Senior Naval Architect – Submarine Platform Engineer

About the role

BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Naval Architect to lead the analysis and evaluation of submarine platform performance from concept design through in‑service support. You will develop, verify and validate mathematical manoeuvring models using physical test data while collaborating with internal teams and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct stability and performance analyses for surface ships and submarines.
• Develop, verify and validate manoeuvring models using test data.
• Work with enterprise partners to enhance modelling capabilities, processes and toolsets.
• Collaborate with Naval Architecture teams, customers and support sea‑trial activities.
• Contribute to the design and build programmes for Royal Navy and Royal Australian Navy submarines.

Required profile

• Experience in surface ship or submarine stability analysis using Paramarine, Aveva or MaxSurf.
• Strong understanding of hydrostatic and hydrodynamic principles.
• Knowledge of submarine or surface ship design standards and operational environments.
• Proficiency with CAD packages such as Rhino or NX.
• Degree in Naval Architecture, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent experience.
