Senior Payroll Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to lead the monthly payroll cycle for a large, multi-entity organisation. You will act as the primary escalation point for complex payroll queries and ensure full compliance with tax, pension and employment legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end monthly payroll process across multiple entities.
• Serve as the escalation hub for complex payroll queries.
• Maintain compliance with tax, pensions, benefits and employment legislation.
• Support transformation, automation and continuous process-improvement initiatives.
• Coach and develop the wider payroll team.
• Collaborate with People, Finance and external partners to resolve payroll matters efficiently.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing complex or high-volume payrolls.
• Strong knowledge of pay, tax, pensions and statutory requirements.
• Confident use of iTrent, Sage and advanced Excel.
• Leadership experience with the ability to support and develop others.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
