Senior Procurement Buyer – Professional Services

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Procurement Buyer to lead professional services procurement for a portfolio of engineering and infrastructure projects. The role will focus on sub‑consultancy contracts across bid and delivery phases, working with high‑profile sectors such as nuclear, defence, power and life sciences.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end procurement of professional services and sub‑consultancy agreements for projects and bids.
• Draft, negotiate and administer contracts in partnership with legal and commercial teams, with NEC4 as a core requirement.
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships, including onboarding, performance monitoring and compliance.
• Provide market insight and cost intelligence to support bid preparation and project delivery.
• Ensure all procurement activities comply with governance standards, policies and best practice.
• Support the creation and implementation of procurement strategies at both project and business levels.

Required profile

• Proven experience in professional services or consultancy procurement within engineering, construction or a similar project‑led environment.
• Strong understanding of the UK construction and engineering market.
• Confidence in contract drafting, negotiation and administration.
• MCIPS qualification (or working towards) and experience with COINS is desirable.

Required skills

• NEC4 contract knowledge (particularly NEC4 PSC).
• MCIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) certification.
• COINS procurement software experience.
