Senior Quantity Surveyor

About the role

Join Trant Engineering as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, providing commercial and contract management support across multiple complex engineering projects in the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Administer contracts in line with company procedures and support tender document preparation.
• Negotiate and manage variations, compensation events and change orders.
• Advise project teams on contractual obligations, commercial risks and potential claims.
• Monitor project budgets, expenditures and forecasts, producing cost reports and cash‑flow updates.
• Manage subcontractor contracts, payments and variations, and assist in final account preparation.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements and maintain auditable commercial records.
• Identify and escalate commercial risks, supporting procurement and head‑contract compliance.
• Collaborate with project managers, site teams, finance and clients to deliver commercial guidance.
• Mentor junior commercial staff and proactively address subcontractor performance issues.

Required profile

• Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in engineering, construction or utilities.
• Strong knowledge of UK contract forms and commercial procedures.
• Experience managing costs, variations and claims across multiple projects.
• Excellent financial, analytical and negotiation skills.
• Desirable: Chartered status (RICS) or working towards it.
