Senior Risk Analyst

About the role

MS Amlin, a leading reinsurer operating at the heart of Lloyd's, is looking for a Senior Risk Analyst in London on a full-time, permanent basis. The role sits in the 2nd line Risk function with a strong focus on quantitative risk across insurance and financial risk, covering underwriting, portfolio management, outwards reinsurance, exposure management, pricing, reserving and capital. It involves collaboration with specialists, contribution to management-level discussions and visibility at the highest levels of the business.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the Integrated Assurance Plan: agree review scopes, run reviews and produce final reports.
• Lead risk discussions with stakeholders, define and monitor risk appetite, tolerances and KRIs, and report to management committees and the Board.
• Investigate and track risk events through to resolution, and provide analysis on risks and controls.
• Support the Validation pillar in oversight of the Internal Model and contribute to the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA).
• Partner with Compliance on the Lloyd's PBO attestation, represent Risk in working groups and change programmes, and support due diligence on strategic transactions.
• Monitor emerging risks and market trends, prepare risk reporting for management and Board committees, and support the development of junior team members.
• Contribute to the Risk & Compliance Knowledge Management pillar and lead 2nd line functional objectives.

Required profile

• Actuarial experience in Underwriting/Portfolio Management or Reserving/Capital, or demonstrable experience driving Insurance Risk deliverables.
• Desire to move into Risk Management, with an eye for detail and the ability to explain complex risk concepts simply.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities and commit to continuous learning.

Required skills

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to connect themes across areas with a commercial lens.
• Clear, confident communication and strong written and presentation skills.
• Sound judgement, project management and execution under pressure.
• Nice to have: knowledge of the Lloyd's market and its regulation, exposure to outwards reinsurance or exposure management, and experience of Risk Management or Validation.
