Senior SOC Analyst

About the role

Join Sopra Steria's Cyber Security team in Farnborough and work on the front line of defending the UK's critical infrastructure. As a Senior SOC Analyst you will investigate real‑world threats, shape detection capabilities and help evolve a high‑performing Security Operations Centre.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, triage and investigate security incidents across critical client environments.
• Analyse network traffic, logs and security events to identify threats and vulnerabilities.
• Lead and support incident response activities, providing guidance on containment, eradication and recovery.
• Enhance detection rules and use cases using MITRE ATT&CK and threat‑informed defence techniques.
• Support threat intelligence activities and contribute to continuous improvement of SOC operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience working within a Security Operations Centre.
• Eligibility for SC and DV security clearance.
• Ability to work shift patterns (2 × 6 am‑6 pm, 2 × 6 pm‑6 am) with four days off.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Sentinel and Splunk.
• Strong understanding of the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
• Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, HTTP, SMTP, FTP, LDAP).
• Experience with firewalls, VPNs, enterprise antivirus and security technologies.
• Security incident investigation and response expertise.
• Cyber security certifications such as Security+, BTL1, CySA+, Blue Team Level 2.
• Malware analysis or reverse‑engineering experience.
• Scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, Bash, Perl or C++.
• Familiarity with QRadar alongside Sentinel and Splunk.
