Senior Social Worker – Children In Our Care

About the role

Our client, Barnsley Council, is seeking a Senior Social Worker to join the Children In Our Care team. You will work directly with children and young people, placing their voices at the heart of every decision and ensuring their needs are met across all areas of life.

Key responsibilities

• Develop meaningful, child‑centred relationships with children and young people.
• Create and maintain creative, individualised care plans that reflect each child's hopes, aspirations and identity.
• Collaborate with families, carers and multi‑disciplinary professionals to achieve the best outcomes.
• Support children in retaining strong connections with families and wider support networks.
• Maintain accurate, detailed records of all interactions, assessments and interventions.
• Prepare high‑quality assessments and reports for looked‑after reviews, court proceedings and other statutory purposes.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in social work, preferably within children’s care.
• Willingness to register fully with Remedy for locum positions.
• Ability to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure (DBS) check.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable children.
