Trainee Claims Technician

About the role

Howden, a global insurance group, is recruiting a Trainee Claims Technician in Milton Keynes. You will start your career in insurance claims in a supportive, collaborative team, learning claims processes, client service and insurance operations while supporting the wider team with administrative and technical work. The role suits someone eager to learn and build a long-term career in insurance.

Key responsibilities

• Learn how claims are managed and processed through their lifecycle
• Support senior colleagues with day-to-day claims administration
• Maintain accurate claim records on company systems
• Acknowledge new claims and, under supervision, help update clients, insurers and other stakeholders
• Prepare and organise documentation for claims handling
• Process collections, payments and other claims information accurately and on time
• Answer routine queries and escalate complex matters
• Assist with management reporting and team projects
• Build knowledge of legal, regulatory and company requirements
• Keep accurate records and follow company policies and procedures

Required profile

• Previous experience in an office, administration, customer service or similar environment
• Interest in starting a career in insurance; no prior insurance experience needed
• A-level standard education (or equivalent)
• Strong attention to detail, good numeracy and literacy, and good written and verbal communication
• Flexible, able to work to deadlines, and committed to fair treatment of clients

Required skills

• Comfortable using Microsoft Office and other computer-based systems
• Problem-solving skills and willingness to learn from experienced colleagues
