Sessional Lecturer – Pottery

About the role

The School of Adult and Community Education at Merton College is seeking a Sessional Lecturer to deliver non‑accredited pottery courses for adult learners. The post is funded from the 2026/27 academic year and the successful candidate is expected to start in August 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver pottery workshops covering hand‑building and wheel‑throwing techniques.
• Provide supportive, inclusive learning experiences for adults of diverse backgrounds.
• Maintain a safe workshop environment and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Assess participant progress and give constructive feedback.
• Contribute to the development of course materials and curriculum.

Required profile

• Teaching qualification (e.g., PTLLS, PGCE, or equivalent).
• Proven experience teaching adult learners.
• Academic or vocational qualifications in pottery or ceramics.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety within a pottery workshop.
