Shovel Loader Operator – Bulk Grain Handling

About the role

The Shovel Loader Operator will ensure safe, efficient movement and management of bulk grain at Bunge's Portland facility. You will operate key equipment, maintain product integrity, and follow strict safety and housekeeping standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate a loading shovel for shed movements, stockpiles, and vessel loading.
• Maintain product segregation, prevent contamination, and handle stock correctly.
• Operate a 380 mt counterweight hydraulic crane and a 600 mt/hr intake system with moving shuttle conveyor.
• Keep work areas tidy, control dust, and ensure safe walkways.
• Complete shift paperwork and hand‑over logs accurately.
• Participate in safety routines such as VCOM, SLAMs, and incident reporting.
• Perform QR pre‑use checks, report defects, and isolate unsafe plant.

Required profile

• Proven shovel operating experience in a bulk/industrial environment.
• Strong safety mindset; willing to stop work if unsafe.
• Flexibility to work nights/weekends in a 24/7 operation.
• Physical ability to perform manual tasks alongside machine operation.
• Basic digital competence for QR checks and form completion.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
