Site Manager – External Works

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead the external works on a large‑scale education project for Cardiff & the Vale College in Barry. You will be responsible for delivering the works on time, within budget and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Project Lead in overall project delivery.
• Manage daily activities of the ground‑works contractor, ensuring compliance with health & safety, quality and programme requirements.
• Control costs and variations in liaison with the Site Quantity Surveyors.
• Lead weekly progress meetings, produce timelines and action points.
• Oversee subcontractor performance, procurement and post‑completion works.
• Coordinate with the client and their agents, reviewing works for potential defects.
• Provide lessons‑learned advice to production teams and support preparation of O&M documentation.
• Run daily start‑up meetings, “Black Hat” risk meetings and manage the snagging/defects process.
