Site Manager / Senior Site Manager – Rail & Civil Engineering (Scotland)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager or Senior Site Manager to lead the delivery of rail station and civil engineering projects across Scotland. The role is based on‑site and involves overseeing a diverse portfolio of infrastructure works for clients such as Network Rail, local authorities and environmental agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, maintain and close down sites throughout Scotland.
• Manage daily site processes, maintain accurate records and submit weekly reports.
• Supervise subcontractors and directly employed workforce, including inductions and daily briefings.
• Order materials, equipment and small plant items as required.
• Communicate work package plans, task briefings, toolbox talks and safety alerts.
• Liaise with the public, local council officials and key rail clients.
• Represent the company on‑site, ensuring a positive image.
• Assist the project team with change assessments and keep site documentation up to date.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Site Manager on civil engineering or multi‑disciplinary rail projects.
• Relevant health and safety certifications (e.g., SMSTS).
• Strong knowledge of rail contracting environments and associated civil works.
• Ability to manage multiple sites and coordinate with diverse stakeholders.

Required skills

• SMSTS certification
