Site Supervisor

About the role

National Highways is seeking a Site Supervisor to join the Operations team, delivering major maintenance and minor improvement schemes across the South East region. You will be responsible for construction surveillance and assurance inspections, ensuring works meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out construction surveillance and assurance inspections on external contractor works.
• Verify compliance with CDM regulations, HSE legislation, environmental legislation and Chapter 8 requirements.
• Provide regular feedback to Project Managers on progress, risks, early warnings and design issues.
• Liaise with all supply‑chain partners, coordinate delivery programmes and conduct buildability reviews.
• Represent National Highways on site, monitor supplier performance and escalate concerns to the Construction Assurance Manager.

Required profile

• Proven highway/structures and maintenance/construction experience, preferably on high‑speed trunk road or motorway networks.
• Good understanding of DMRB, MCHW, Chapter 8 and CDM regulations.
• CSCS Card holder with SSSTS or SMSTS certification (essential).
• Ability to work independently, collaborate within a team and follow management guidance.
• Must live within one hour’s commute of Maidstone and hold a driving licence with no more than three penalty points.
