Skilled Composite Aircraft Fitter – 12/7 Shift

About the role

NuStaff is seeking Skilled Composite Aircraft Fitters for a leading aerospace manufacturer in Bristol. The role involves working on a busy aircraft assembly line on a 12/7 shift pattern, offering a 6‑month rolling contract with genuine temp‑to‑perm potential and structured training.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble and trim composite and metallic aircraft wing components and sub‑assemblies.
• Perform drilling, reaming and countersinking on both composite and metal parts.
• Set components in calibrated build jigs and ensure precise alignment.
• Deburr, radius under‑heads and fettle components using approved tools.
• Use nut runners and pre‑set torque guns for bolting tasks.
• Operate CNC machines where required and follow engineering drawings and quality standards.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities and adhere to health and safety procedures.

Required profile

• Apprenticeship or minimum Level 3 City & Guilds/NVQ in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Ability to work to close tolerances and read aircraft drawings.
• Good hand‑skill coordination and ability to work both independently and in small teams.
• Willingness to attend and pass a practical trade test on site.

Required skills

• Composite and metallic component assembly.
• Drilling, reaming, countersinking, deburring and fettling.
• Use of calibrated build jigs, nut runners and torque guns.
• Operation of CNC machines.
• Proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Office applications.
