SOC Analyst

About the role

We are seeking a proactive SOC Analyst to join an investment banking client in London. The role is office‑based four days a week and starts with a six‑month fixed‑term contract that is guaranteed to convert to a permanent position.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and continuously refine detection logic to improve accuracy, reduce false positives and enhance alert quality.
• Collaborate with Security Tools Engineering teams to ensure appropriate telemetry and data sources are available for robust threat detection.
• Translate evolving threat intelligence and adversary tactics into practical detection rules.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for detection content, including purpose, outcomes and tuning changes.
• Conduct gap analysis against frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK and align detections accordingly.
• Support threat‑hunting activities by building custom queries, dashboards and analytical tools.
• Mentor junior Splunk administrators on data onboarding, parsing, indexing and issue resolution.
• Participate in red, blue and purple team engagements to test and strengthen detection capabilities.
• Define and track detection‑related KPIs to support SOC performance reporting.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with a passion for continuous improvement in security detection.
• Experience working closely with security engineering and threat‑intelligence teams.
• Ability to produce clear documentation and communicate technical concepts effectively.
• Proactive attitude towards learning emerging threats and security best practices.
