Software Engineer

About the role

ZOO Digital is looking for a Software Engineer to join its award‑winning R&D department. Based in Sheffield with a hybrid working model, you will help design, develop and maintain software that powers high‑profile localisation and media services for global entertainment clients.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, write, maintain, test and document code across the full technology stack.
• Develop software components that operate within large, multi‑process systems.
• Manage a portfolio of projects while keeping communication open with senior developers and project managers.
• Provide technical insights on existing codebases and champion appropriate technologies.
• Deliver clean, efficient features in line with ZOO Digital’s coding standards and quality expectations.
• Automate routine tasks using suitable tools and scripting.
• Review, debug and ensure high‑quality code before committing to repositories.
• Take ownership of features or products, demonstrating pride in your work.
• Assist with task planning, estimation and collaborate with DevOps and QA teams to improve products.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of programming concepts and software engineering paradigms.
• Ability to quickly learn and work with existing codebases.
• Proactive communication with senior developers and project stakeholders.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality software on schedule.
